Great News!

We would like to announce that we are working on the new image hosting script v3.0!

This new release is a total revamp of the script. We have taken the script apart, found the good and bad things about it, and are reconstructing it from scratch. The new script will be much more dynamic, interactive, and much more customizable.

Our Idea: We put a lot of thought into this development and into what you, the customer, wants. As of now most of the sites will look the same that use our image hosting script.

Themes: To make this script a one-of-a-kind product, we decided to build the entire system around a Themes based structure. So now you will be able to go to scripteen.com and download your favorite theme and install it within seconds. Think of it like WordPress themes. We will also allow users to submit themes to our online directory of themes for users to download. Some themes will be free, some will be premium themes. If you submit a premium theme you will also be able to make a supreme commission off of the theme. This not only helps the theme developer for help with making the theme, but gives the script users the absolute best possible themes.

New Uploader: Almost all current image hosting scripts use a very outdated upload method. A simply upload form box on the site where you have no idea of the progress or ease of uploading multiple pictures. Our new script integrates a new uploader where you will be able to upload many images at once, and also see the progress for each image uploading. This will also be able to be styled via CSS in the themes.

Watermarking: Since we know sometimes there is a need to stamp the images uploaded on you're website, we have integrated a on-upload watermarking feature. When activated you will upload a simple .png file and all images uploaded will be watermarked with this image. This prevents other websites from scrapping you're website and downloading images for their own use. Also this allows easy marketing for you're website when posting images on other websites.

New Gallery: The gallery will have a nice sidebar to be able to sort the images you are looking for. For example you can search by extention (.jpg,.gif,.png), by site (large,med,sm,tiny/icon), by date uploaded, by views, by CMYK or RGB. The gallery will be much more organized and also have ajax effects for optimal viewing.

There are many, many other new features that are being integrated.

Reason for this post: To inform you of the great new script coming that will change the entire image hosting community, and also to ask for you're suggestions.

Tell us what YOU think should be integrated in v3.0 and why. If we like it, we will integrated it.

Is been a while since i last tried this script and honestly don't know what the current state of the script is but i would like to recommend some things.

- It'll be nice to use jQuery
- jQuery has a nice ajax uploader plugin call uploadify
- ligntbox like fancybox would be nice

I'm personally building a site with this jQuery plugins (Pix-All) and i would love to see them in the version 3.0 OR at least something similar.

Excellent news BTW.

@ptejada

The uploader we chose was Uploadify. For various different reasons after reviewing all of the AJAX uploader, the script has been customized slightly to integrate well with our script, but the core is uploadify.

We are also using Thickbox for the popout boxes. The thickbox is customized and has been altered slightly to be used effectively with the new script. We chose thickbox because of its fast and crisp popout and popins.

The site is using JQuery for a lot of its effects and interactivity.

This going to have a language system?

Folder:
/language/
english.php

define("_UPLOAD", Upload");

or something similar?

Easier for creating language database?

@imgwiz

We are thinking about the language options. We have not yet currently decided to implement it or not. Although the themes will be custom and will be able to make language options in each theme. So even if the core system doesn't have it, there will be an option to integrate in you're themes.

Hello

I have Arabic website, and I am using international UTF-8 for all pages

Scripteen image hosting 2 is very very good product, it is simple, fast and easy to manage

I installed it as a service for my vbulletin forum member

But I was compelled to modify it to suite my website needs. I can summarize the changes that I did

1. I changed the charset to UTF-8 instead of iso-8859-1

I think you should make all the pages encoded in UTF-8 as well as the database so it will be suitable for world wide.

2. I disabled the gallary manually because my members didn't like that anyone can browse the images that they uploaded

Many members forget to select the option (private image. they even don't know what is it. It is better to create an option in cpenel enable the admin to enforce image privacy, so it is accessed only by knowing its link.

3. I removed the photo codes (produced after images uploading) that my member don't need, like HTML Code, thumbnail code. I preserved only the direct link and forum code.

It is better to set options in cpanel enabling the admin to select which code will be viewed for the image uploader (i.e the person)

4. I was compelled to translate all the phrases to Arabic instead of English (because of my Arabic website) by editing the php code.

I think it is very nice to have phrase manager in cpanel. or at least a translation file so admins can replace the English phrases to what they want.

5. the feature of viewing randomly chosen image (from previously uploaded images) beside the uploader is really not very well idea. some images uploaded by members are ugly or not suitable. I had to find the php code responsible for that then comment it.

6. the image backlink url is always refer to the image page (i.e. view.php?filename=whatever) I couldn't figure out what to do to let it refer to my website main page for backlinking purpose. except that I modified the view.php itself to make 301 redirect in the top of its code.

7. many member didn't know that when pressing the plus sign, a new field will be show to select another images. most of them thought it is one image at time uploader.

I think it is suitable to let the new field appear directly after selecting an image.

I don't know about your new uploader technology, But I think it is will be nice to create a possibility to select multiple images in 'open file dialog box' then uploading all them in one click. then copy all the images codes in one step, just like photobucket.com.

Sorry about the weak english. I tried my best

Nice work!!

I liked this script from the first time I installed it!!
What I've been looking for is a script to provide images and video hosting, (not streaming or embedding).
A place for my customer to upload, and hot link to only, Not a viewing site. More like photobucket without the public viewing.
I would especial like it, if it were download only on videos.... any hope of this??

Thanks either-way!!!

@Simsim

Thank you for you're post. We have taken notice to some of you're changes and will try to make these possible via the admin panel. Some of these changes have already been implemented.

@SOcRatEs120

For now this is a image only website. We plan on making a quality File hosting script with similar features with themes etc. Us developers at Scripteen have much knowledge in the file hosting coding and plan to use it to make an awesome script for our users.

Thank you for your new update.

it will be better if you socialise the script by integrating facebook/twitter bridges and sharing bouton.

I think a comment system and a rating system will be welcome.

also let the communitie to create plugin and hack for the script (with an API or by give exemples and documentation)

if you make that in a pro verssion i will buy it.

Thank you

Im looking for multi server support. I want to beable to have the servers hold somany images.

example:

main server - Holds webserver and database server
server2 - image server
server3 - image server

When the image is uploaded, it will look for an empty server. Once done,, the doing to look for will be servername.domain.com/path/to/image

@5. Yeah, this one really sucked, i commented the code too to remove it.
Also the image name should be recreated like 6 characters instead of adding the image name into a number, cuz sometimes the users on my site, upload images will large filename.

Yeah, I tried my self to add the sharing button but didn't work on site, the CSS for buttons wasn't working, don't know why.

generalsnipe idea is awesome, will improve overall performance.
Also more statistics per image and per server.
Like BW the generated by hotlinking not just viewing.
Also how many each user had image views in total not just total uploaded images.

Keep the Ad Management System, add analytics or a place where we can add Google Analytics code to track our visitors activiy.
Also show how many users are online and who are online.
And we really need language management system.

This are a few suggestions, a long the way i had more but forgot some, good for you guys :D or you wouldn't finish.
Also I want say this update should be awesome, I was looking into jQuery also the new uploader and the themes, this will simplify customization process, and the new gallery.

@moohtje

The footer removal license key will also be valid for this script as this will be an update to the script and not a 'new' script.

@generalsnipe

Yes we are wanting to add a revolutionary server management system to the script. We want the ability to setup servers for the image script as you need them. Along with server monitoring of how much space each server has with warnings when they are getting full and another is needed.

@ibanez

We will encourage users to customize the script in whatever way they can Imagine. The system is very well coded and much easier to understand then previous versions. We will offer tutorials on how to make themes, add features, etc. You will be able to post to Twitter and Facebook with Bit.ly or Tin.tc link shortening API key.

@SMLMATS

Easy Ad management will be integrated along with easy Analytics integration. Also the image file structure has changed completely and will be like: example.com/image/108/flowers.jpg SEO is a big factor for sites and we are trying to add as much of a SEO friendly structure as possible.

Now that you mention socialize, it will be a great idea to implement external authentications like openid and facebook connect.
Here is a simple example http://pix-all.com/t from one of my sites. Though im using a third party server service to authenticate the users There are plenty of PHP classes and libraries that simplifies this process.

I am a happy user of this script and would like to see AdSense units above and below images when they are viewed individually via the browser (not when they are hotlinked, of course).
